Answer 2: Anything that can quickly raise the heart rate; sprints, running up stairs, jumping, squat thrusts, hopping, rower, elliptical machine, etc.
Question 3: Where can I get a complete understanding of exercise recovery?
Answer 3: Get Dr. Berg's book, The 7 Principles of Fat Burning - at www.drberg.com or by calling 703-354-7336
Question 4: What is Plyometric type exercise
Answer 4: This is a type of exercise that involves short burst of powerful intensity like hopping on a plateform.
Question 5: What is the logic behind this program?
Answer 5: Most of the benefit of exercise occurs after the actual exercise, not the exercise bout itself. This is why it's better to use your recovery to determine your exercise. If a person is not sleeping, tired or sore, then a lower intensity is recommended.
Question 6: Why is interval training more beneficial than sustained exercise?
Answer 6: Because interval training triggers a hormone called Growth Hormone, which is the major fat burning hormone. As sustained exercise does not.
Question 7: How many intervals do I do to start out?
Answer 7: Do intervals for a total of 15 min. But of course follow you pattern, whether its 30 seconds or 60 seconds of exercise and the recommended amount of rest - back and forth.
Question 8: There are 3 parts to this program, please explain both.
Answer 8: The first part involves answering 3 questions to find out what your recovery is subjectively (energy, soreness and sleep). This will give you a general idea how intense you should exercise. The second part involves determining your exercise pattern through measuring your pulse rate before, during and after exercise. The third part gives you examples of types of exercise both for interval training and reshaping. Most of the exercise have an explanation.
